There were a number of fascinating story lines on day 1C, the third and final starting day of the 2015 World Series of Poker $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event. Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul took a seat in the world’s greatest poker tournament. Phil Ivey and Phil Hellmuth both drew table 256 in the green section for their starting table, bringing a combined $41,591,682 in live tournament earnings and 24 WSOP gold bracelets to the table on their own. When it comes down to it, though, the story of the day is that with registration now officially closed the final numbers for the event are in.
A total of 6,420 players posted the $10,000 buy-in with the hope of becoming poker’s next World Champion, building a prize pool of $60,348,000. The eventual champion will walk away with the title, the championship bracelet and $7,680,021. Day 1C was by far the largest of the tournament’s three starting days, drawing 3,963 players, the most of any single starting day in WSOP history. Attendance is down just under four percent when compared with 2014 but up slightly from the 2013 main event’s 6,352-player field.
