Swiss businessman Safa Abdulla Al-Geabury, who gambled away £2million at London’s Ritz casino and later said “the devil made me gamble,” has been ordered by a court to pay his debt, according to a report from the Guardian.

Al-Geabury claimed he had an addiction and that the casino should not have let him play, arguing that he had made it clear to the property that he had a serious problem.

The court in London disagreed with the arguments by his legal team.

The Ritz Club said in a statement: “We welcome today’s decision from the high court. As a responsible provider of gambling we are committed to ensuring the strictest standards of care towards both our customers and staff at all times.”

Al-Geabury reportedly has assets worth more than $1 billion, which apparently was another reason why the court went against him in the matter.
