In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. FLORIDA
- The 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (Jul 30, ‘15 – Aug 19, ’15) The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood in southern Florida is yet again hosting an absolutely gigantic tournament series this August. The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open has a total of 72 events on offer from the end of July through late August. The series reaches it’s apex this week, as the $5 million guaranteed $5,200 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event begins with the first of three starting days at noon local time on Saturday, Aug. 15. Day 1B and day 1C also kick off at noon on Aug. 16 and 17 respectively. There will also be a $2,650 buy-in $1 million guaranteed prize pool event beginning with the first of two starting days at 2:00 PM on Aug. 16. Day 1B in that event will start at noon on Aug. 17.
- The 2015 CPPT bestbet Jacksonville (Aug 13, ‘15 – Aug 24, ’15) The Card Player Poker Tour returns to bestbet Jacksonville for the latest action-packed stop on the tour’s third season. Their poker room is Florida’s largest with 70 poker tables, which will play host to a 21-event series over the next two weeks. The early highlight of the CPPT series is a $100,000 guaranteed $350 buy-in tournaments which begins with the first of three starting days at noon on Aug. 13. Days 1B and 1C also begin at noon on Aug. 14 and 15. The $300,000 guaranteed $1,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em CPPT bestbet Jacksonville main event begins on Aug. 21 and continues until a champion is decided on Aug. 24.
- The 2015 Daytona Beach Beachside Open (Aug 11, ‘15 – Aug 16, ’15) The Daytona Beach Kennel Club & Poker Room in Daytona Beach, FL hosts a five-event tournament series this week, highlighted by a $50,000 guaranteed $360 buy-in no-limit hold’em event that features four starting flights, with 11:10 Am and 7:10 PM starting times on Aug. 14 and 15.
NORTHEAST
- The 2015 WSOP Circuit Foxwoods (Aug 06, ‘15 – Aug 17, ’15) The Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT is once again playing host to the World Series of Poker Circuit. The series began last week, but is reaching it’s climax in the coming days. The centerpiece of the whole affair is the $500,000 guaranteed $1,675 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event that begins with the first of two starting days at noon on Aug 14th.
- The 2015 Parx Big Stax XII (Jul 28, ’15 – Aug 17, ’15) The Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA kicked off a 13-event series at the end of July. This week will see the conclusion of the poker festival, highlighted by a $1,200 buy-in event that begins with the first of two starting days at 11:00 AM local time on Aug. 14.
- The 2015 Borgata Summer Heater (Aug 10, ‘15 – Aug 15, ’15) This week the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ is the site of a small buy-in event with a sizable guarantee. The $200,000 guaranteed $180 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament starts on Aug. 10th with the first of seven starting flights. Days 1A through 1D all begin at 11:00 AM from Aug. 10 – 13. Starting on Aug. 13 the tournament adds a 7:00 PM starting flight 1E. Flight 1F starts at noon on Aug. 14 and flight 1G at 7:00 PM that evening. The survivors of all of those flights will return on Aug. 15 at noon to play down to a winner.
- The 2015 Pittsburgh Poker Open Summer Series (Aug 13, ’15 – Aug 24, ’15) The Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, PA launches into a 24-event tournament series this week, highlighted in the early going by a $350 buy-in event beginning at noon on Aug. 15.
SOUTHWEST
- The 2015 11th Annual Arizona State Poker Championship (Aug 14, ‘15 – Aug 18, ’15) Scottsdale’s Talking Stick Resort is set to host the 11th annual running of the Arizona State Poker Championship this week. The $1,100 buy-in event features three starting days, each beginning at 9:00 AM local time on Aug. 14 – 16.
CALIFORNIA
- The 2015 WPT Legends of Poker (Jul 28, ‘15 – Sep 04, ’15) The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens is in the midst of it’s massive Legends of Poker festival that began in late July and will continue into early September. The highlight of this week is a $1 million guaranteed $160 buy-in no-limit hold’em re-entry event. The tournament features 28 starting flights, with three each day beginning at noon, 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM from Aug. 14 – 24.
