In the spirit of March Madness, bookmakers are out in force to release their predictions for college basketball. And for famous
odds-maker Jimmy Vaccaro, the
NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship is no exception.
Much like the single-elimination, bracket-style format modeled after college basketball tournaments, the
NBC NHPC features 64 poker players competing in a series of heads-up (one-on-one) Texas hold'em matches. Win a match and advance to the next round. Win six matches and be crowned champion.
According to well-known odds-maker Jimmy Vaccaro, Johnny Chan is a favorite to win the 2007
NBC NHPC next weekend. Vaccaro reviewed Chan's years of playing experience, his success in heads-up play, his ability to make great reads, and the element of fear he creates among his opponents. Vaccaro also reviewed the brackets of the 2005 and 2006
NBC NHPC rosters, and then listed Chan as the 23:1 definitive favorite.
Last year
Bodog calculated and posted the odds on its website after reviewing the brackets. It appears Bodog is still waiting for the results of Thursday's (March 1) pairings party before releasing its predictions.
