German research group Statista predicts that by the end of 2015 the global online gaming market will have grown to $41.4 billion, according to a report late last month from TechFruit.
Over the past decade the market has grown from $13.8 billion, according to the group. Last year, the global online gambling market was worth roughly $39 billion.
The European market is the largest in the world and is about a third of the pie.
Roughly 85 nations across the world have chosen to OK Internet gambling, according research from the American Gaming Association. The American online gaming market received a big boost last week when the world’s largest poker site was licensed by the state of New Jersey.
Financial services firm Morgan Stanley believes the U.S. online gaming market could reach $2.7 billion by 2020, assuming more states legalize and regulate the industry.
The state of California has put its online poker discussions on hold until next year, but it has a shot at legalizing online card games for real money next year.
