Pavlos Xantopoulos became the second Greek player ever to win a World Series of Poker gold bracelet when he topped a field of 256 players to win the 2015 WSOP Europe €3,250 no-limit hold’em main event.

For the win Xantopoulos earned €182,510 ($207,558 USD) and 612 Card Player Player of the Year points.

Xantopoulos’ victory came just under a week after Makarios Avramidis took down the kickoff event of this year’s WSOP Europe festival, the €2,200 no-limit hold’em six-max event. Avramidis was the first player from Greece to win a WSOP gold bracelet event.

Xantopoulos came into the final table in second chip position behind Mario Javier Lopez. The two survived to battle heads-up for the title and the bracelet. Xantopoulos began the showdown with the lead and was able to extend his advantage.

On the final hand Lopez moved all-in from the button with the 5Spade Suit5Heart Suit and Xantopoulos called with the AHeart Suit9Diamond Suit. The board ran out ADiamond Suit9Heart Suit8Heart Suit8Club Suit3Heart Suit and Xantopoulos flopped aces and nines to win the pot and the title.
