Barny Boatman topped a field of 502-entries to win the 2015 World Series of Poker Europe €550 pot-limit Omaha event, capturing his second WSOP gold bracelet and the €54,725 first-place prize.

Just days earlier Boatman made a deep run in the WSOP Europe €3,250 pot-limit Omaha eight-max event, bubbling the final table to finish in ninth place. Boatman told WSOP.com reporters after the win that his recent close call greatly motivated him in this event.

“I was chip leader in that tournament when it was 11-handed," said Boatman. "So I walked away thinking, ‘What have you done? That was your chance to make a final.’ So coming back again, there was no way I was bubbling this final table. It was not going to happen.”

Boatman came into the final table in second chip position behind Doug Lee. American poker pro Shannon Shorr was also at the final table, and he knocked Lee out in fifth place en route to a third-place finish for $27,989 and 280 Card Player Player of the Year points.

Shorr’s elimination set up a final showdown between Boatman and Poland’s Grzegorz Grochulski, who started heads-up play with nearly a 2-to-1 chip advantage. The two traded the lead a few times before Boatman won a key pot to take a decisive lead. On the final hand Grochulski got all in preflop with the 9Spade Suit9Diamond Suit7Spade Suit2Heart Suit against the QHeart SuitJHeart Suit10Diamond Suit6Diamond Suit of Boatman.

The board ran out KDiamond Suit4Club Suit3Spade Suit10Heart Suit9Heart Suit with the river giving Boatman a straight to secure the pot and the title.
