West Virginia is one step closer to spreading poker in its four casinos after its legislature today agreed to let its voters in the counties where the casinos are located decide if they want to allow racetrack owners to spread table games.

There is no timeline on when the referendum to change existing gambling laws in West Virginia will take place.

If voters approve the change, then the four casinos will be allowed to spread table games like craps, black jack, roulette, and poker. The casinos have been lobbying state lawmakers for this change since Pennsylvania lawmakers voted to allow slot parlors to be opened there. The casino owners argued the change was needed to keep pulling customers from Pennsylvania and Ohio.

West Virginia allows casinos only a in handful of cities that border neighboring states.
