The city of Las Vegas saw a record 3.78 million visitors in October, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said this week.

That was up from the 3.5 million people seen in September. It was the best September the city has ever had in terms of visitors. The October results come just days after McCarran International Airport said that it had 4.1 million passengers in October. That means that a vast majority of those passengers coming into the valley were there to stay for awhile.

Last year, 41,126,512 people visited Las Vegas, which was an all-time high. It was the first time the figure broke 40 million. This year will easily break that record.

According to a report from the Las Vegas Review Journal, the 3.78 million visitors was a 5.6 percent year-over-year. An extra weekend this October helped.

Gaming revenue on the Las Vegas Strip fell 5.1 percent to $493.6 million in October, which was more than the statewide dip of 2.85 percent year-over-year.
