Turkish legislators have passed a law forbidding online gambling to be offered by any unauthorised domestic or foreign company to citizens in Turkey.
As a result, Austria-based Bwin, a "major player" in the region, suspended its business activities in Turkey that incorporated its
PokerRoom.com brand. Other sites with a big Turkish customer base, such as
BetssonPoker.com, are thought likely to follow suit.
Thanks to its increasingly affluent 70+ million population, Turkey is often regarded as fertile ground for the online gaming sites.
