Daily Fantasy Sports: Draftpot NBA Values

Following the news closely and understanding each team’s general rotation is key to being a good NBA DFS player. Doing these things allow you to spot values that are imperative to building solid and competitive NBA lineups.

This week, I’m going to look at some players who are currently bargains at the price they’re going for on Draftpot. As always, Draftpot ‘salaries’ are listed in terms of Draftpot Points Per Game (DPPG).

Andre Drummond (34.73 DPPG)

I’d be lying if I said I knew exactly what was going on with the big man in the Motor City. He’s had multiple games recently where he wasn’t himself on the floor and in turn didn’t see his usual 33-37 minutes. I do know, though, that if he gets himself right and starts playing his normal allotment of minutes again, this price is absolutely stealing. Drummond at his best is one of the 10 or so best players in all of NBA DFS, so I’d probably be willing to take some shots on him while his price sits at this level.

Kawhi Leonard (30.23 DPPG)

Kawhi is similar to Drummond in that he’s had some really strangely quiet games lately. I’m of the firm belief that he’s much better than this price tag and should be firmly on everyone’s radar on Draftpot while he sits at this level. As a bonus, he gets a fantastic matchup with Houston on Wednesday night and will definitely be someone worth targeting.

Ricky Rubio (25.93 DPPG)

Sticking with this theme of really good players who just happen to be playing inconsistently right now and are thus underpriced on Draftpot, I offer up Ricky Rubio. The Timberwolves’ rotations can be maddening at times, with Rubio just languishing on the bench deep into the 2nd and 4th quarters sometimes for no apparent reason. There’s very little argument, though, that when Rubio does get 30-32 minutes, he’s a productive player and a great buy at under 26 DPPG.

Robert Covington (18.18 DPPG)

Covington is a great story after bursting on the scene last year with Philadelphia after being let go by the Rockets. His mix of three point shooting, rebounding, playmaking, steals and shot blocking means he can score fantasy points in many ways. After suffering an injury and then spending time playing off the bench once he came back, Covington has worked his way back into the starting lineup and is a very good bet for 25 fantasy points each night right now.

Archie Goodwin (15.63 DPPG)

Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about style points in NBA DFS, because volume is the name of the game. Archie Goodwin has been a good value for the last week for precisely that reason. With a litany of turnovers and foul trouble seemingly every night, it’s not pretty, but Archie is getting it done while Brandon Knight is out with an injury. The Suns are extremely thin at the guard spots, so Archie should be able to keep up this heavy minute load for as long as Knight is sidelined.
