A bill aiming to authorize Las Vegas-style casinos in the state of Georgia is likely off the table for the remainder of the year.

According to a report from the Associated Press, Georgia House Speaker David Ralston said Monday that he would not call the bill and the accompanying constitutional amendment needed to authorize the casinos for a full floor vote.

Ralston’s decision to kill it comes after a committee signed off on the plan.

The legislation would have allowed four casinos in the state, with two in or near Atlanta.

According to a report from AJC.com, a poll found that 84 percent of Georgia voters think they should be able to decide on the issue in a referendum. Unfortunately, they’ll have to wait.
