The Heartland Poker Tour continues its success as its most recent event at the Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Indiana turned out the largest field and prize pool in HPT history.
The main event took place March 24-25 and was a $2,700 buy-in event. The total prize pool was $503,440 with 208 players and 841 people who played the qualifiers.
Jimmy "Vegas" Kroll won the first place prize of nearly $141,000. Kroll received his nickname because he vowed to head to Las Vegas after the tournament. Arriving to the final table short-stacked, Kroll doubled up early and ultimately went heads up against Gio Magat.
Magat came from Chicago to play, and took home over $70,000. His two pair lost to Kroll's full house in the final hand of the tournament.
