The National Poker League will kick off the 2007 Global Circuit Tour with the Paris Open in France on May 13, at the Cercle Gaillon.

The Paris Open will feature many $4,200 buy-in events in addition to the main event. There will be an extra $100,000 added to a prize pool that is estimated to be 3.5 million Euros for the championship tournament.

The Queenie Club, near the site of the tournament, will host a charity party by Louis Vuitton and Patron Tequila on May 21. Players will have access to a VIP party and an exclusive "players only" lounge.

Preregistration is available on the NPL or Cercle Gaillon websites. Satellites will be held every week at the Cerce Gaillon, Aviation Club in France, the Loose Cannon in London, Casino de Marrakech in Morocco, and Hollywood Park Casino in Los Angeles.

Although many poker events in France are canceling their tournaments because of legal threats from the government, the NPL is allowed to run its tourney because it isn't affiliated with any online sites.

Note: Yesterday the NPL erroneously made a statement that the prize pool would be an estimated $3.5 million. Today it released a statement that said it meant to say 3.5 million Euros.
