The Hollywood Poker Open season 4 championship event returned this week to the M Luxury Resort Hotel Casino and drew a field of 655 players, creating a total prize pool of $1,477,025.
After four days of play, it all came down to Dejuante Alexander and Aaron Mermelstein, who decided to chop during heads-up. Because he held a 3-1 chip lead, Alexander was given credit for the win, as well as the $297,644 first-place prize. Mermelstein settled for $240,000 for finishing runner-up.
The final table featured many well-known poker pros, such as Thomas Muehloecker (4th), Michael Tureniec (5th), Julian Parmann (6th), Bryan Piccioli (7th) and Calvin Anderson (8th).
Other notables who made the money included Pierre Neuville (15th), Dan O’Brien (16th), Keven Stammen (17th), Adrien Mateos (25th), Justin Young (27th), Kevin MacPhee (28th), Randal Flowers (30th), Mark Herm (35th), David Sands (37th), Dan Smith (44th), Ryan Laplante (46th), Joe Serock (47th), Jake Bazeley (55th) and Anthony Spinella (60th).
