New Jersey’s online casinos won $16.4 million from gamblers during the month of June, which was an increase of 40.6 percent compared to the $11.7 million collected in June 2015, according to figures released Wednesday from Garden State gaming regulators.
Of the $16.4 million, $14.43 million came from all the games other than poker. The nearly $1.97 million in poker rake was an increase of 7.3 percent compared to the $1.84 million from the same month a year ago.
Thru the first six months of 2016, New Jersey online gaming revenue was $94.8 million. That was 31.7 percent more than the $71.97 million from January to June of 2015.
New Jersey gambling sites broke $17 million in April, which is the record for a single month.
Poker revenue was $13.73 million from the first half of 2016, up 11.5 percent year-over-year from $12.32 million. PokerStars launched in New Jersey this past spring.
Online gaming helped New Jersey’s overall gaming win increase 2.5 percent during the first half of 2016. Total casino revenue was $1.25 billion thru June, compared to $1.22 billion collected during the same period a year ago. Atlantic City has eight brick-and-mortar casinos, five of which conduct real-money online gaming.
For the month of June, Borgata led the way with $3.78 million in online gaming revenue, followed by Golden Nugget ($3.53 million), Tropicana ($3.35 million), Caesars Interactive NJ ($3.04 million) and Resorts Digital ($2.7 million).
Only Resorts, Borgata and Caesars run peer-to-peer online poker.
New Jersey and the United Kingdom are in talks to implement a shared liquidity system for online poker. The arrangement could expose New Jersey poker players to an additional two million online gamblers out of a country of more than 64 million people.
