visitphilly.comThe majority owner of a Philly-area casino has launched an online gambling site in New Jersey thanks to a partnership with the Golden Nugget, according to a company press release.

The SugarHouse Casino said its Garden State online offerings are available via PlaySugarHouse.com. The site is operated by Rush Street Interactive. Rush Street Interactive is the online division of Chicago-based Rush Street Gaming, which oversees SugarHouse Casino. Rush Street Interactive opened a customer service office in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, earlier this year.

“PlaySugarHouse.com is a great extension of the SugarHouse Casino brand,” said Rush Street Gaming CEO Greg Carlin. “We are excited to broaden the SugarHouse reach to new players in New Jersey and give players more choice about how they want to enjoy their casino gaming experience.”

Online gambling on the site is also available on mobile devices.

New Jersey online casinos won $16 million from gamblers in August, an increase of more than 30 percent year-over-year. Year-to-date online gaming win for the casinos was $128.3 million through August, up 32.6 percent from $96.7 million during the same period last year. New Jersey online casinos won nearly $150 million in 2015.

New Jersey controls more than 90 percent of the regulated U.S. online gambling market. Nevada and Delaware are the only other states with real-money online casino-style gaming.

There are more than a dozen online gaming skins in New Jersey between the five licensed operators. Atlantic City has eight brick-and-mortar casinos.
