Last night, Alex Outhred, the fourth-place finisher in the 2006 Mandalay Bay Poker Championship and a WSOP Academy instructor, outwitted a whole mess of fifth-graders and won $500,000 on the new Fox game show Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?

He's won a little more than $200,000 playing tournament poker.

Outhred choose to stop at $500,000 instead of going for $1 million because if he missed the $1 million question, he would have taken home only $25,000. The rub here is that Outhred said he knew the answer to the final question, which was: "Who was the first American Secretary of the Treasury?"

The answer: Alexander Hamilton.
