A total of 433 entries were made in the 2016 Card Player Poker Tour Bicycle Hotel & Casino $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event, easily surpassing the $400,000 guarantee to build a final prize pool of $495,670. From that sea of poker players only one champion would emerge and that was Edwin Pairavi. The Los Angeles resident earned $120,685 and the CPPT trophy for the win. He now has more than $310,000 in lifetime live-tournament earnings, primarily from events in the L.A. area.

In addition to the hardware and the money Pairavi was also awarded 720 Card Player Player of the Year points. This was his first POY-qualified score of the year.

Pairavi, who requested not to be photographed, told Bicycle Hotel & Casino bloggers that at one point on day 2 he was down to just 7,000 in tournament chips with the blinds at 2,500-5,000 with an ante of 500. He moved all in blind and, incredibly, was dealt pocket aces, which held up and got him back in the game.

David RosenbloomPairavi came into the final day of this tournament in seventh chip position with 18 players remaining. Among the players that fell before the final table were Joshua Field (17th – $4,710) and Phil Laak (14th – $5,430).

The elimination of Phong “Turbo” Nguyen in third place ($44,790) set up a heads-up battle between Pairavi and David Rosenbloom.

There was some discussion regarding a deal, but in the end the two played it out and Pairavi emerged victorious while Rosenbloom was eliminated as the runner up, earning $64,785.
