Ryan FeeUpswing Poker has teamed up with Card Player to bring you some exclusive poker strategy content. In this video Fee discusses what to consider when facing a three-bet in no-limit hold’em in a live cash game.

“What’s interesting or different about live versus online is that raise sizes tend to bigger,” said Fee early in the video. “You then face really big three bets from often times really tight ranges and you tend to be shorter [stacked.]”

You often have a smaller pot to stack ratio due to of the larger opening sizes and the resultingly larger three bets, and in live games are likely to be facing a tighter three-bet range.

“Honestly, the best play is often to fold if you know that your opponent is playing tight,” concludes Fee.

Fee goes on to examine how hands like 10-9 suited likely won’t realize their equity when facing three bets in low stack-to-pot ratio situations, but become more playable as stacks get deeper.
