Pennsylvania casinos won $258.6 million last month, down 3.65 percent year-over-year, according to figures released by the state Gaming Control Board.
Table game revenue was $66.3 million, down 2.76 percent compared to February 2016. Slot machine revenue was down 3.95 percent to $192.3 million.
There are 1,229 table games and 26,254 slot machines between Pennsylvania’s 12 casinos. There are 225 poker tables in the Keystone State. They raked $4.94 million last month, which was virtually unchanged year-over-year.
February 2016 had one extra day due to the leap year.
Parx Casino led the way in slot revenue last month with $30.9 million, while Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem was the leader in the table games with $18.7 million in win.
Parx, located near Philadelphia, told state lawmakers earlier this month that it doesn’t think online casino gaming is good for the state’s casino industry. As everyone knows, Sheldon Adelson, who owns Sands Bethlehem, is against online casinos.
MGM Resorts International, a major backer of online casino gaming in America, recently reached a deal to acquire Sands Bethlehem for a rumored $1.3 billion. That sale would likely increase Pennsylvania’s chances at internet poker legalization.
Another Pennsylvania online casino hearing is scheduled for Mar. 28. It’s been estimated that online gambling could add about $300 million annually to the state’s existing gambling market, which would be about 10 percent.
