Wasicka Wannabe Attempts Scam

Imposter Uses Fake MySpace to Ask for Money

Paul Wasicka has an impersonator with money motives.

The imposter allegedly contacted other high-profile players, including Jennifer Leigh and Allen Kessler, to ask for money. He used a fake MySpace page using Wasicka's picture and information and AOL instant messaging to attempt to convince anyone who would listen that he had a gone through a bad run online and needed money to jumpstart his depleted bankroll.

When Wasicka and his business manager were informed that the player's likeness was being used to scam people, a message was sent to the fake "Paul" via MySpace, ordering him to discontinue his antics. There was a reply saying that he had already collected $25,000 from people and that for a payment of $10,000 from Wasicka, he would take down the MySpace page.

Wasicka's business manger did not respond to this message and no legal action has been taken thus far. However, Wasicka has made it clear that he will not pay the $10,000.

Wasicka addresses the issue in his blog. He wrote: "You guys, I'm not hurting for cash and if I ever was, I'd sit down in front of someone and ask a personal favor. I would never ask someone in an e-mail. Please don't be taken in by b.s. like this."

The correspondence with the scammer is also posted in this entry. To view Wasicka's blog, go to www.kwickfish.com.
