Want to get better at poker? Tired of losing in your local home game, or looking to go pro playing no-limit hold’em?

Who better to learn from then two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner and high stakes cash game regular Doug Polk.

Polk has teamed up with fellow bracelet winner Ryan Fee to offer the Upswing Poker Lab

The Upswing Poker Lab is a poker training course taught by Polk and Fee that is updated regularly with in-depth learning modules, theory videos, and a wealth of information to make you a better poker player.

Upswing Poker's Doug PolkUpswing Poker has teamed up with Card Player to bring you some exclusive poker strategy content. In this video Polk discusses playing deep stacked in no-limit hold’em.

“In general I think there is a lot of money to be made in deep stacked games,” says Polk late in the video.

“A really important concept [in deep stacked play] is always ‘who can have the nuts, and how often?’ That will be a cornerstone of your strategy when you get into huge pots,” said Polk. “Sometimes if you are the player that cannot have the nuts while the other player can, you are going to have to be willing to put in a lot of money with good hands that aren’t the best.”

Polk goes on to discuss two more tips about adjusting to playing with deeper stacks, including recommendations about your betting frequency from out of position and about not being afraid to play to go broke.

“Always play with an amount in front of you that you are comfortable losing,” says Polk. “Sometimes you are going to have to call down with some hands that aren’t great. Don’t buy in deep or play deep if you aren’t willing to put all of the money in when in spots that it needs to happen.”
