The $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2017 World Series of Poker drew a field of 736, generating a prize pool of $993,600. After three days of play, the bracelet and the $203,709 first-place prize went to Brooklyn, New York poker pro David Singer.

The win is Singer’s second at the WSOP. His first bracelet came back in a 2008 $1,500 pot-limit hold’em event. Singer now has career tournament earnings of more than $4.48 million.

In order to secure the title, Singer had to endure four hours of heads-up play with Kevin LaMonica. Singer started with a slight lead, was reduced to just a couple of big bets, and then went on to grind back for the victory.

“Obviously it went back and forth,” said Singer. “Most of the time I played well, but I was getting unlucky in the big hands. I was kind of frustrated but I always think I have a chance to come back.”

Other notables who finished in the money included Max Pescatori (4th), David “Bakes” Baker (6th), Esther Taylor-Brady (8th), Brandon Shack-Harris (9th), Ian Johns (12th), Richard Ashby (13th), Yuval Bronshtein (14th), Mike Wattel (31st), Marco Johnson (32nd), Chris Tryba (36th), Randy Ohel (47th) and Mike Gorodinsky (50th).
