The $2,500 Omaha and Stud eight-or-better mix event at the 2017 World Series of Poker proved to be quite popular, drawing a field of 405 entries to create a total prize pool of $911,250.

After three days of play, it was amateur poker player and restaurant franchise operator Smith Sirisakorn who came out on top, besting a tough final table to earn his first gold bracelet and the $215,902 first-place prize.

“I’m in a shock. I’m still kinda dazed,” Sirisakorn admitted. “I wanted to remain aggressive throughout the match. But if you saw my cards, I was running good. Caught some good flops, good turns, good rivers, and it worked out.”

The final table featured a number of notable pros, including Jameson Painter (2nd), Jared Bleznick (3rd), and Barry Greenstein (7th), who recorded his tenth cash of the summer.

Other players to make a deep run included Alex Luneau (9th), Naoya Kihara (10th), Mikhail Semin (11th), Esther Taylor-Brady (13th), Noah Bronstein (18th), Jesse Martin (19th), Ashton Griffin (25th), Kyle Bowker (27th), and Jake Schwartz (28th).
