Day one of the World Poker Tour's $10,000 Mandalay Bay Poker Championship (MBPC) begins today and CardPlayer.com's media and tournament teams will be there to cover the event.

The MBPC is the second of 19 tournaments that will be filmed and broadcast as part of the WPT's sixth season, which will be broadcast on the GSN Network starting January, 2008. The Mirage Poker Showdown, won by Jonathan Little, concluded last week and will be the first tournament shown as part of season six.

Mandalay Bay has been running satellites around the clock for this event and the casino has cleared out a large section of its gaming floor to accommodate the table necessary to handle this event. The tournament space is displayed prominently with signs advertising the tournament.

Over the weekend, the room was filled with players trying to get into the tournament for as little as $240. Three $1,090 mega-satellites were held Sunday and Monday, and play is scheduled to start at noon PT today.

Keep an eye on CardPlayer.com for live updates and video reports from this event. After this, the next WPT event will be the Bellagio Cup III, which takes place July 10-15.
