The Bicycle Hotel & Casino kicked off it’s 16th annual running of the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker tournament series in late July. What better way is there to celebrate this historic poker festival than by featuring two of the game’s living legends in Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari.

The two poker superstars have committed to appearing at two of the 28 fantastic events on offer at the Bike while the series runs from July 28 – August 31. On Aug. 22 Esfandiari will be participating in the day 2 of the Mega Millions, a gigantic $1 million guaranteed event that runs over the span of 12 days. Esfandiari will be taking advantage of the event’s unique Quantum Reload format, buying in directly to day 2 of the tournament for $4,300 and receiving an average stack of 250,000 with blinds of 2,000-4,000 with an ante of 500.

Esfandiari is known by many as “The Magician,” and in his illustrious career, he has made many opponents’ chips disappear. Esfandiari has more than $27 million in live tournament earnings, with three World Series of Poker gold bracelets and two World Poker Tour main event titles.

On Aug. 25 Phil Hellmuth will be taking part in the 2017 WPT Legends of Poker main event. The televised $4,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em features three starting flights, and players who are eliminated during Day 1A, 1B, or 1C may re-enter the following day. Season 16 WPT Legends of Poker at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino is scheduled to air in May 2018 on FOX Sports Regional Networks. Players who are unable to bag chips during one of the three starting flights may also buy-in before the start of Day 2.

Hellmuth is the all-time WSOP bracelet leader with 14 titles, and although he has made three WPT final tables he has yet to add his name to the champion’s cup. He will be looking to add to his nearly $21 million in live tournament earnings with a deep run in this event, and just maybe he can finally take down his first WPT title. A constant since Season I, some of the biggest names in poker have captured the WPT Legends of Poker title, including Doyle Brunson (Season III), Dan Harrington (Season VI), John Phan (Season VII), Prahlad Friedman (Season VIII), Andy Frankenberger (Season IX) and Will Failla (Season X).

In 2016 Pat Lyons defeated a field of 687 entries in this event to win $615,346 from a prize pool of just under $2.5 million.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the World Poker Tour® and for the return of our very own Legends of Poker," said Hashem Minaiy, Managing Partner and CEO of The Bicycle Hotel & Casino. “It’s definitely a tournament not to be missed this season with the impressive prize pools.”
