Anton Zaslavski is a Russian-German Electronic Dance Music superstar, better known around the globe as Zedd. The Grammy-winning, multi-platinum artist came incredibly close to adding to his trophy case this week, but not for his musical chops. Zedd finished third out of a field of 226 entries in a €2,150 buy-in no-limit hold’em turbo tournament at the 2017 PokerStars Championship Barcelona.
Zedd played a 90-minute set at the PokerStars welcome party for the Spanish poker festival and then participated in the €5,300 buy-in PSC Barcelona main event. Although he busted out of that tournament, he went on to final table the side event. The tournament was eventually won by Finland’s Pasi Sormunen.
Poker pros Liv Boeree and Igor Kurganov hung out with Zedd during his DJ set, snapping a photo and posting it on Instagram to celebrate Kurganov’s win in the €50,000 buy-in super high roller.
This was Zedd’s first recorded tournament cash. Although the €44,000 ($51,920) pales in comparison to his earning potential as a musician, there is a chance the 27-year-old may have found a new way to spend his downtime as he travels the globe.
