Something about the World Series of Poker Circuit Foxwoods $1,675 no-limit hold’em main event must just click for Jeremy Meacham. The 30-year-old poker pro from Oak Bluffs, MA has made the final table of the event for three straight years, finishing sixth in 2015 and third in 2016. The only fitting way to cap an incredible run like that was to win the third time around, and that is precisely what Meacham did. He defeated a field of 486 players this year to capture his first WSOPC gold ring and the top prize of $156,735.

“The third time’s the charm, I guess,” Meacham told WSOP reporters after coming out on top. “It feels good to finally get there. Sixth, third, and first is a nice little progression.”

Meacham came to the final table in second chip position behind Mike Azzaro. Also among the final nine were WSOP Circuit ring holder Ralph Massey (8th – $18,225) and 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure main event champion Galen Hall (5th – $39,366).

Although Azzaro began the day with the lead, he ultimately hit the rail in fourth place for $52,488. He was eliminated by Sean Thomson, who took a big lead into three-handed action. Thomson extended that advantage even further when he took out Bob Ricciuti in third place, sending him home with $70,713.

Thomson started heads-up play with 7,035,000 to Meacham’s 2,685,000. Meacham was able to take the lead by winning an preflop all-in confrontation with the ADiamond Suit10Diamond Suit holding up against Thomson’s KSpade SuitJSpade Suit. He was able to extend that lead to more than a 2-to-1 advantage by the time the final hand arose.

With blinds of 80,000-160,000 and an ante of 20,000 Meacham moved all-in from the button. Thomson made the call with the ADiamond SuitQHeart Suit and was racing against Meacham’s 2Heart Suit2Diamond Suit. The flop brought the QSpade Suit3Club Suit2Spade Suit to give Meacham a set and Thomson top pait. The 7Heart Suit left Thomson drawing dead, and the 10Heart Suit secured the pot and the title for Meacham. Thomson earned $96,957 as the runner-up.
