Las Vegas Sports Book Lists New York Jets As Historic 1,000-1 Underdog To Win Super BowlOdds Are Thought To Be The Longest In NFL Betting |

Las Vegas might be in a bit of trouble if the New York Jets pull off a miracle this season.
Football is by far the most popular sport to bet on in the only state with legal single-game sports betting, and at least one major sports book in Sin City has decided to expose itself to some serious liability on the Jets. According to a report from ESPN, the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas has the team at 1,000-1 to win the Super Bowl.
How does that compare to the Browns from last year? Cleveland was 200-1 before Week 1 to win the Super Bowl. They ended up finishing 1-15. Which team does Las Vegas see as the second worst entering the 2017-18 season? The Buffalo Bills, listed at 200-1.
The 1,000-1 on the Jets is thought to be the longest odds for any NFL team before the season started, according to the report. The team is also 200-1 to win the AFC East.
Nevada sports books saw $1.7 billion in wagers on football last year, and they retained $91 million worth of those bets. Nevada won about $219 million altogether on sports bets in 2016.
The move by the Westgate SuperBook comes during a lackluster stretch for the industry. Over the 12 months prior to August, the books won $218 million, a decline of 5.6 percent compared to the same period last year. Revenue of $19.3 million between May and July was down 22.3 percent year-over-year. In July, the books had their worst month in three years. In January, the Silver State’s books lost on football for the first time since 2013.
