Dan Gilbert’s JACK Entertainment said last week that it will be re-branding its Detroit casino that it acquired just four years ago.

Gilbert, the controversial owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, announced that his Greektown Casino-Hotel will be called Jack Detroit Casino-Hotel. The company owns three gambling facilities in Ohio, with Las Vegas-style casinos in Cleveland and Cincinnati.

The re-branding and remodeling of Greektown will be completed on May 1, 2018.

“Detroit is Jack’s hometown and we want to make a big splash with our new brand and the casino’s dramatically expanded new dining and entertainment offerings,” said Jack CEO Matt Cullen. “Our entire team is eager to introduce all that’s new to the city and our guests.”

Jack Entertainment was formerly Rock Gaming.

The Detroit casino gambling market, which is comprised of three casinos, is worth about $1.4 billion annually, according to state figures. Michigan is currently taking a look at whether to allow its casinos to offer internet betting in an effort to boost gaming revenues.
