With just four players to eliminate, day four of the Mandalay Bay Poker Championship was scheduled to be a short one. However, the 10 accomplished players decided they were not going down without a fight. At the end of a five-hour day, four players finished the day on the rail. One player finished much the same as he began; Jared Hamby was still holding the chip lead.

Early in the first level Jared Hamby opened to $27,000 from middle position, Chau Giang called, Shawn Buchanan called, and Barry Greenstein moved all in for $362,000 from the small blind. It was folded back to Giang who made the call for his last $285,000 with J J. Greenstein tabled A K and the board came A 8 6 K10. Greenstein hit two pair and took down the pot. Giang took home $26,235 for his efforts. The next elimination was Cardrunners pro and winner of the 2007 PokerStars.com Caribbean Adventure (a World Poker Tour event) Ryan Daut.

J.C. Alvarado raised to $35,000 from the cutoff and Thayer Rasmussen reraised to $95,000 from the button. Ryan Daut moved all in from the big blind for a total of $194,000. Alvarado folded and Rasmussen asked for a count, and then called with 1010. Daut tabled A J and the board came 4 3 2 910. Daut didn't improve and was sent home in ninth place with $34,980. After the hand, J.C. Alvarado said he folded 6 5, and would have called Rasmussen if Daut hadn't moved all in.

The final two players to exit were eliminated by the same hot hand, Jared Hamby. His first victim was his friend and respected pro J.C. Alvarado. J.C. Alvarado raised to $42,000 from late position and Jared Hamby called from the big blind. The flop came K Q 7. Hamby ,and Alvarado bet $50,000. Hamby made the call and the turn was the J. Hamby checked again and Alvarado bet $200,000. Hamby moved all in, and Alvarado said, "I have to call." He did so and tabled 10 8. Hamby showed K J and the river was the J, Hamby filled up and won the massive pot. At that point he had $1,266,000 in chips and it was clear that he was going to be a force to be reckoned with the rest of the way. He set his sights high and then tangled with a legend, Barry Greenstein.

Greenstein raised to $50,000 from middle position and Hamby called out of the big blind. The flop came K 7 5. Hamby checked and Greenstein bet $70,000. Hamby made the call and the turn was the K. Hamby checked again and Greenstein bet $130,000. Hamby thought for just a moment, and then moved all in. Greenstein mucked his cards and Hamby took down another large pot. Before Hamby and Greenstein engaged in their final battle, Danny Wong and David Haddad played a massive pot that would determine their positioning for the final six.

David Haddad raised to $40,000 from the button and Danny Wong called. The flop came K 7 6. Wong checked, Haddad bet $65,000 and Wong raised to $115,000. Haddad moved all in for $385,000 and Wong made the call. Wong tabled K Q and Haddad showed K J. Wong started pleading with the deck asking, "Fade, one time!" The turn was the 2, and Wong screamed, "NO PAINT!" The river was a sickening J and Wong looked as if he had been shot. He was forced to leave the table to compose his emotions. Haddad doubled up to almost $900,000 in chips at that point and finished the day with $1,180,000. Wong ended up the short stack with $185,000. The final hand of the day was between Greenstein and Hamby, and once again Hamby ended the day by knocking a player out.

Barry Greenstein moved all in with K10 and was called by Jared Hamby with J J. The board came A A A 4 9, Greenstein failed to improve and was sent home in seventh place for $54,665. After the hand, Greenstein graciously signed a copy of his book, Ace on the River, and gave it to Hamby. Hamby once again ended the day with the chip lead and he carries a freight train of momentum into the final table.

Here are the official chip counts for the remaining players:
