The 2017 Triton Super High Roller Macau $1,000,000 HKD ($128,150 USD) buy-in no-limit hold’em event drew a record field of 83 entries, with 57 unique players and 26 re-entries building a prize pool equivalent to $10,006,779 USD. In the end five-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner John Juanda emerged victorious, capturing the title and the first-place prize of $22,410,400 HKD ($2,913,352 USD).
This was Juanda’s fourth seven-figure live tournament score of his career and it brought his lifetime live tournament earnings to $23,212,333. As a result, he climbed to seventh place on the all-time money list, surpassing Phil Hellmuth ($21,457,262) and Scott Seiver ($22,796,347).
Juanda also earned 960 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. This was his sixth final table finish of the year, and it was enough to see him climb inside the top twenty on the overall POY leaderboard, which is presented in 2017 by the Commerce Hotel & Casino. Juanda currently sits in 19th place with 3,290 points and year-to-date earnings of $4,856,856.
Juanda was far from the only POY contender to make the final table of this event. German superstar Fedor Holz finished in second place for $16,398,000 HKD ($2,131,740 USD) and 800 points. This was his 12th final table of the year, and with 5,497 points and $6.214,713 in year-to-date earnings, he has moved into second in the POY standings.
Adrian Mateos finished fourth for $903,500 USD and 480 points, enough to see him jump to seventh in the POY rankings. This was his 13th final table finish of the year. Stephen Chidwick made his 10th final table of 2017 in this event He ultimately finished in sixth place for $446,680 USD and 320 points He now occupies the 10th-place spot on the overall leaderboard.
