Nevada gaming regulators said late last week that the Silver State sports books lost $11.4 million on baseball bets during November, a whopping 495 percent decrease year-over-year. The books were up $2.9 million from World Series bets in November 2016.

Per a report from ESPN that cited historical Nevada Gaming Control Board data, it was the worst baseball loss ever for the books. The second-worst month ever was November 1999, when the books lost about $6 million on baseball. The Yankees beat the Braves in the World Series that year. The $11.4 million hit includes futures bets on the Houston Astros, who were victorious in seven games over Los Angeles Dodgers. Game 7 was held on Nov. 1.

Despite the baseball loss, the books were were in the black $9.8 million overall in November. It was a 48.8 percent decrease year-over-year. The books won $10.9 million and $6.6 million on football and basketball, respectively. The books didn’t have a bad year overall on baseball. Over the 12 months prior to Dec. 1, 2017, they won $36.2 million from the sport, an increase of 9.3 percent compared to the same period a year prior.
