While the World Series of Poker rocks along at the Rio, a very interesting game between Brian Townsend and Sammy Farha is taking place in the Bellagio's Bobby's Room.

For the last few days, Townsend and Farha have been playing a mixed game of pot-limit Omaha and no-limit hold'em with blinds of $500-$1,000. The game started June 5, and three sessions have already taken place. The game is supposed to continue this afternoon.

Sammy FarhaCard Player's Craig Tapscott caught up with Townsend after the session ended yesterday evening, and Townsend had this to say about the game so far:

"I've played big on the Internet, but this is a very big game. Playing heads up you could get a $2 million swing. You could be playing great, and still lose $2 million, either one of us. We're looking to increase to possibly $1,000-$2,000. We'll see."

During the first session alone, Townsend says the two played four or five pots that broke the half-million mark, which is what both players started the game with.

Here are some things Townsend wrote about through his blog at Cardrunners.com on June 5:Brian Townsend

"We played a marathon session which ended with me down 500K. We were both playing very aggressively and at one point Sammy was down 800K, but was able to come back. We probably played four or five pots that were over 1/2 million dollars. The match really swung back and forth and I am looking forward to continuing it later tonight. This is probably the largest game I have ever played in as we both had 1/2 mil in front of us and we were playing insanely aggressively. To have 4-5 1/2 mil+ size pots as well as about 15 200-500K pots shows how wildly we were playing.

Today's blog (June 7), tells how Townsend was down $1.2 million, but managed to squeak out a small profit (Townsend's definition of "small" would be enough to buy a good American sports car). He also goes on to tell how Farha wanted to "flip" a hand of Omaha blind for $470,000.
