Card Player POY Captain Is Today's Chip Leader

J.C. Tran Has a Chance to Make It Even More Difficult for Those in Race

J.C. Tran, who has sat in the number one spot on Card Player Magazine's Player of the Year race since the beginning of the year, is the chip leader going into the second day of the World Series of Poker's $1,500 six-handed no-limit event. There are 110 players out of 1,427 left and the tourney continues today at 2 p.m. Tran had $150,000 chips, only $10,000 more than Clinton Bushin in second place.

So far in 2007, Tran cashed five times, which includes a win at the $10,000 WPT World Poker Challenge ($683,473), a second-place finish at the $10,000 WPT's L.A. Poker Classic ($1.17 million), and a victory in the $3,000 no limit event at the Five-Star World Poker Classic ($272,320).

Right behind Tran is Jared Hamby with 3,573 points. Tran hasn't cashed since April 11.
