The Triton High Roller Series was founded by Richard Yong in 2016. The Malaysian businessman and high stakes poker regular won his first title on the tour he started this week by taking down the 2018 Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro $250,000 HKD ($31,849 USD) six-max no-limit hold’em event. Yong overcame afield of 35 total entries in the tournament to win his second career title and the first-place prize of $3,046,000 HKD ($395,980 USD).
In addition to the money and the title, Yong also earned 336 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. This was only his first score of 2018, but a number of other players at the final table are among the top contenders currently in the POY race. Runner-up finisher Steve O’Dwyer took home $256,880 USD and 280 points for his eighth final table finish of the year, climbing into 19th place in the overall standings.
Isaac Haxton placed third for $160,550 and 224 points. This was his 11th final table of 2018, putting him in a four-way tie for the most POY-qualified scores so far with current race leader Stephen Chidwick, second-ranked Justin Bonomo and fifth-place occupant Rainer Kempe. With $2,857,584 in year-to-date earnings and 2,495 total points, Haxton now sits in 10th place in the standings.
