According to NBC 6, Bradley Ruben, who finished third in a $1,500 buy-in razz tournament at the World Series of Poker last summer, has been charged and as of Friday was being held on $100,000 bail.

Ruben, 32, is accused of leaving the scene of a “crash involving death” and resisting arrest. The incident occurred along I-95 in Broward County.

The accident was especially tragic, because, according to police, the victim was in the process of dealing with an earlier non-fatal accident when Ruben allegedly struck his wife’s vehicle.

Police said that Ruben’s Volkswagen GTI crashed into the back of the victim’s car as it was being loaded onto a tow truck. The victim, Juan Pedro Garcia, was rushed to a local hospital where he later passed away. His wife apparently didn’t suffer any injuries.

Ruben allegedly stayed at the scene “for a few moments,” before fleeing. He was apprehended about a quarter of a mile down the road, the report said. Police say that Ruben admitted to them he had consumed the edible. He allegedly said that the edible “affected him.”

Ruben has $360,000 in lifetime poker tournament earnings.
