Maryland’s four Las Vegas-style poker rooms took in a combined $3.66 million from their games during May, according to figures from state gaming regulators.

Through May, the rooms raked $18.59 million on the year, per the state data. MGM National Harbor and Live! Casino generated the bulk of the revenue, with rake of $1.73 million and $1.3 million in May, respectively. MGM has 39 tables, while Live! has 52.

The $3.66 million was down 2.6 percent compared to the $3.76 million raked in May 2017. Through the first five months of 2017, poker revenue was $19.01 million, which reflects a year-over-decline of 2.2 percent.

While poker seems to have plateaued in Maryland (MGM opened in late 2016), the state’s casino gambling market is still growing. Regulators said that May 2018 gaming revenues for the state’s six casinos set a new single-month record of $156.55 million, an increase of 14.7 percent compared to the May 2017 total of $136.46 million. The previous record month was March 2018, when the casinos combined to generate $150.07 million in gaming revenue.

“As our casino partners continue to innovate and add new amenities, it’s exciting that all six properties saw year-over-year increases in May,” said Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director Gordon Medenica. “We congratulate them on an excellent month and we’re looking forward to their continued success.”
