Yaser Al-Keliddar Wins World Series of Poker $3,000 Six-Max Limit Hold'em Event

One of the final events of the 2018 World Series of Poker wrapped up Wednesday night, with Washington D.C.-area poker player Yaser Al-Keliddar coming out on top of a field of 221 in the $3,000 six-max limit hold’em tournament.

Al-Keliddar earned the lion’s share of the $596,700 prize pool, taking home his first career bracelet and the $154,338 first-place prize. The 37-year-old recently began focusing on poker after spending most of the last decade between various interests including real-estate investment, practicing law, and even performing stand-up comedy.

“I wasn’t going to play this thing until an hour and a half before,” Al-Keliddar told WSOP reporters. “My friend texted me and was like ‘Hey, you want to play this tournament?’ It wasn’t even on my radar, but I do play a lot of limit hold’em back home, so I said, ‘Sure, why not?’"

This was Al-Keliddar’s largest career score and came just a couple weeks after he made a deep run in the $1 million guaranteed Wynn Summer Classic main event. To secure the title, he had to overcome a final table that included top limit hold’em players Mike Schneider and Juha Helppi, as well as three-time bracelet winner and poker legend Barry Greenstein.

Other notables who finished in the money included Daniel Zack (9th), Alex Kuzmin (10th), Ronnie Bardah (13th), Benny Glaser (14th), Nicholas Seiken (15th), Chris Tryba (22nd), Mike Matusow (23rd), Jeff Lisandro (31st), and Rep Porter (32nd).
