Day 24 of the 38th World Series of Poker saw Europe provide 10 percent of the field for the much-anticipated $50,000 world championship H.O.R.S.E. event.

All are familiar faces in the poker community - Max Pescatori, Jeff Lisandro, Marco Traniello, Rob Hollink, Andy Black, Patrick Bueno, Thor Hansen, Jani Sointula, Patrik Antonius, John Kabbaj, Alex Kravchenko, Gus Hansen, David Benyamine, John Duthie, and Bruno Fitoussi - and they took their seats with the great, the good, and the hopeful in what was a parade of legends of the modern game.

Recent bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro had the ignominy of being the first player out and could be found a short time later in the $1,500 mixed hold'em (limit/no-limit) event.

By the end of the night, Fitoussi and Kravchenko were among the chip leaders but Lisandro, Kabbaj, and Black were gone.

Elsewhere at the Series, another Irishman made a final table, this time in the $1,500 pot-limit hold'em tournament. Bryan O'Connell reached the last nine as the second-shortest stack on $179,000 and it was a short-lived affair as he was eliminated within 20 minutes when his AJ couldn't win the race against 10-10.

He collected $16,353 for his ninth-place finish.

Day two of the $1,500 no-limit hold'em witnessed a sustained European assault on the nine final table places. Jeff Kimber, Marcel Luske, Chris Bjorin, Nick Goodall, and Karl Mahrenholz were in the field but there were, predictably, a mixed bag of results.

Luske went out in 31st place with an $18,581 cash, Jeff Kimber was eliminated in 29th, also for $18,851, and Bjorin and Goodall made it to the final nine.

The $1,500 mixed hold'em (limit/no-limit) game saw a large Euro presence, perhaps surprisingly, given the lack of popularity of limit hold'em in Europe.

Juha Helppi, William Thorson, Roland De Wolfe, Dave Colclough, Thomas Wahlroos, Rolf Slotboom, Barny Boatman, Donnacha O'Dea, Noah Boeken, Marcus Golser, Lex Veldhuis, Fabric Soulier, and Jeff Lisandro played and the latter two made it into day two among the chip leaders.

Monday 25 June heralds the final table of the $1,500 no-limit hold'em game, day two of the $1,500 mixed hold'em (limit/no-limit) event, and day two of the $50,000 world championship H.O.R.S.E. Starting are the $1,500 pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better game and the $1,000 world championship seniors tournament.
