The third and final day of the 2024 World Series of Poker $50,000 pot-limit Omaha high roller began with five players remaining, with four having already earned at least one bracelet. Daniel Perkusic of Germany was the lone contender chasing his first win at the series. After a few short hours, Perkusic was the one hoisting the hardware and heading to the payout desk to collect the top prize of $2,100,325.

This was the second live tournament win of Perkusic’s career. His first came in a 2022 European Poker Tour Barcelona €10,200 PLO event, which saw him earn what was a career-high score of $268,042. With this latest multi-million-dollar victory, he now nearly $2.8 million in recorded tournament scores to his name.

In addition to the money and the bracelet, Perkusic also earned 1,428 Card Player Player of the Year points and 750 PokerGO Tour points for the win. While he still sits outside the top 200 in the 2024 POY standings presented by Global Poker, he is now a top-25 contender on the season-long PGT leaderboard.

The 187-entry turnout for this tournament built a prize pool of $8,929,250. Among the 29 players to make the money were big names like bracelet winner Dan Smith (27th), two-time bracelet winner Dylan Weisman (25th), four-time bracelet winner Anthony Zinno (20th), six-time bracelet winner Jason Mercier (18th), Cary Katz (12th), Sean Winter (10th), two-time bracelet winner Ben Lamb (9th), six-time bracelet winner Brian Rast (8th), and bracelet winner David Benyamine (7th).

Danny Tang came into the final day as the chip leader, with Perkusic in the middle of the pack. Two-time bracelet winner Santhosh Suvarna was the first to fall, with his overpair of aces running into a flopped set of eights for Perkusic. The recent $250,000 buy-in winner earned $503,085 as the fifth-place finisher. This brings his earnings for the series to more than $6 million, while his lifetime total approaches $13.7 million.

Bracelet winner Ronald Keijzer was the next to hit the rail, with his final hand being a failed bluff attempt tha ran into the queens full of tens held by Tang. Keijzer earned a career-best payday of $692,232 for his fourth-place showing.

Three-time bracelet winner Jim Collopy got the last of his stack in with rainbow K-K-3-3 facing the single-suited A-A-10-3 for Perkusic. Neither player improved and the larger pocket pair was enough to send the pot to Perkusic. Collopy was awarded $973,882 as the third-place finisher, the largest score yet on his resume. He now has nearly $8.9 million in lifetime scores to his name.

Heads-up play began with Perkusic holding roughly a 6:5 lead over Tang, who was looking for his second career bracelet. Tang overtook the lead briefly, but Perkusic soon regained the advantage and then began to pull away. The final hand saw Perkusic raise from the button with ASpade SuitKSpade Suit9Club Suit2Club Suit. Tang called from the big blind with KDiamond Suit6Spade Suit6Heart Suit5Club Suit and the flop came down KClub Suit9Diamond Suit6Diamond Suit. Tang shoved with his set of sixes and a flush draw. Perkusic called with top two pair. The ADiamond Suit turn gave Tang the nut flush, but the 9Heart Suit river improved Perkusic to nines full of kings for the win.

Tang walked away with $1,400,217 as the runner-up. He now has over $28.2 million in tournament earnings across 193 recorded in-the-money finishes.
