The annual Global Gaming Expo (G2E) kicks off on Oct. 8 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, and sports betting will be the hottest topic.

G2E, which is presented by the American Gaming Association, for the first time ever will hold a sports betting symposium. North America’s premier international gaming trade show released the speakers and full schedule for the symposium in August.

Speakers at the sports betting symposium include William Hill US CEO Joe Asher, ESPN anchor Scott Van Pelt and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement Director David Rebuck, among others. The symposium will run Oct. 8-11.

“The symposium will provide gaming professionals with the tools they will need to consider business operations that best capitalize on the Supreme Court’s ruling decision to overturn the failed federal ban on sports betting,” said a press release. “Sessions will cover the business and legislative aspects of sports betting and offer an interactive, guided tour of the G2E expo hall to connect attendees with the top suppliers of sports betting technologies.”

“As states and sovereign tribal nations consider whether or not to enact legalized sports betting, the Sports Betting Symposium at G2E will offer the world’s foremost experts, business leaders and operational solutions to build a thriving legal market in the United States,” said Sara Slane, senior vice president of public affairs for the AGA.

The AGA last week testified in front of Congress to help federal lawmakers decide how to play their hand. The casino industry opposes new federal sports betting mandates.

Despite the Las Vegas Strip’s recent struggles, the U.S. casino industry is at record levels in terms of gambling win. However, sports betting presents an opportunity for a new $15 billion market, according to research group Eilers & Krejcik Gaming.
