Elio Fox emerged victorious in the 2019 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown $50,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em super high roller event, outlasting a field of 20 entries to capture the title and the first-place prize of $440,000. This was the fifth-largest score of Fox’s career, and it increased his lifetime live tournament earnings to more than $8 million.

Fox is coming off of a breakout year on the live tournament circuit, having made ten final tables and won five titles in 2018, including his second World Series of Poker gold bracelet. This was the poker pro from New York’s first final-table finish of 2019. He was awarded 306 Card Player Player of the Year points as the champion.

“It feels great. It’s always wonderful to start out a trip doing well – makes it easier the rest of the way," Fox told reporters from the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Blog. “It was a really tough tournament, and I love playing with the group of guys that were here. I play with them a lot, and I’m really happy to have won.”

Fox did indeed face plenty of tough competitors at the final table. 2018 Poker Masters winner Ali Imsirovic finished fourth for $120,000 after running pocket sevens into the pocket queens of Alex Foxen.

Despite winning that hand, Foxen was the next to hit the rail. He lost a massive coin flip with QHeart SuitQDiamond Suit against the ASpade SuitKDiamond Suit of Fox and was eliminated shortly afterwards. The 2018 Super High Roller Bowl runner-up took home $180,000 as the third-place finisher in this event.

With that, Fox took roughly a 4-to-1 chip lead into heads-up play against fellow WSOP bracelet winner Sam Soverel. It came down to a coin flip in the end, with Fox limp-shoving KClub Suit from the button after Soverel raised 5Heart Suit5Club Suit out of the big blind. Soverel called all-in and the board ran out 9Heart Suit9Club Suit2Heart Suit10Diamond SuitKClub Suit. Fox made kings up on the river to secure the pot and the title. Soverel was awarded $260,000 as the runner-up finisher.

Here is a look at the payouts and POY points awarded at the final table:

Place Player Earnings (USD) POY Points
1 Elio Fox $440,000 306
2 Sam Soverel $260,000 255
