The $3,000 no-limit hold’em event at the 2019 World Series of Poker drew a field of 671, creating a total prize pool of $1,811,700. After four days, France’s Ivan Deyra emerged with the win, earning his first bracelet and the $380,090 first-place prize.
To take home the title, Deyra had to overcome a final table that included Andras Nemeth (7th) and Patrick Leonard (4th).
“It was amazing,” Deyra told WSOP reporters after the win. “I was on the rail before for two or three final tables before. It was my dream to be here and hear my friends sing for me. It’s a really good sensation. The main goal was to have a bracelet. When I was young I watched TV with stars in my eyes. To be here and to win it, it’s like a real dream.”
This was France’s third win of the 2019 series. Thomas Cazayous won the $3,000 no-limit hold’em six-max shootout for $414,766, and Jeremy Saderne took down the $1,000 mini main event for $628,654.
France now has 21 bracelets in total, which puts them in a tie for sixth with Russia. Only Australia (28), Germany (38), England (50), Canada (61), and the U.S. (1,134) have more WSOP wins.
In addition to the money, Deyra also earned 1,260 Card Player Player of the Year points for his win. The POY is sponsored by Global Poker.
Other notables who made a deep run in the event included Jonas Mackoff (11th), Michael Tureniec (12th), William Givens (14th), Justin Bonomo (22nd), George Polychronopoulos (27th), Larry Greenberg (28th), Joey Weissman (30th), Igor Kurganov (33rd), Jesse Martin (34th), and Erkut Yilmaz (35th).
