The newly instituted
Bad Beat Jackpot at Absolute Poker is has grown to epic proportions. The jackpot is at $442,000 as of this article's publication.
Given the way the jackpot is distributed when hit - 70 percent to the players at the table, 20 percent reseeded into the jackpot, and 10 percent as an administrative fee; and within the 70 percent to the players, 50 percent goes to the losing hand, 25 percent to the winning hand, and 25 percent to the other players who were dealt cards - the "victim" of the bad beat, if it were hit now, stands to get at least $154,700.
To qualify for the jackpot, players need to be playing at one of the jackpot-specific tables. The lowest stakes for no-limit hold'em tables are 50¢-$1 and for limit hold'em they are $1-$2. Once at one of those tables, a qualifying hand must be played wherein quad eights or better, with both hole cards being used, are beaten. (the winning hand must also use both hole cards.)
