Sergi Reixach Wins 2019 European Poker Tour Barcelona €100,000 Super High Roller

Sergi Reixach has won the 2019 European Poker our Barcelona €100,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em super high roller event. The Spanish poker pro overcame a field of 64 total entries to secure the title and the top prize of €1,816,210 ($2,015,993 USD). This was the first seven-figure score of Reixach’s career, and it brought his lifetime live earnings to just shy of $4.7 million.

“It’s unbelievable. I’ve been working a lot of years for this kind of moment," he told PokerStars Blog reporters after coming out on top. "It’s been a long way for me. Some people have a lot of luck in the beginning, but for me, it’s been a tough way. But I’m very happy now.”

In addition to the money and the title, Reixach was also awarded 720 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. This was his fourth final-table finish of the year. He now sits in 130th place in the overall POY race standings for 2019, which are sponsored by Global Poker.

The third and final day of this event began with Tsugunari Toma in the chip lead with nine players remaining. Reixach entered the final table in fourth chip position but quickly shot up the leaderboard by eliminating Mikalai Vaskaboinikau in ninth place ($199,878 USD). Not long after that, Reixach called the three-bet shove of Rui Ferreira with AK. Ferreira’s A8 was dominated and failed to improve on a Q5492 runout. He took home $261,905 USD as the eighth-place finisher.

Start-of-day leader Tsugunari Toma scored the next elimination when his A4 overcame the 55 of Steve O’Dwyer. Toma spiked an ace on the turn and held from there to bust O’Dwyer in seventh place ($337,718 USD).

Luc Greenwood was the next to go when his pocket sixes filed to outrun the A-Q of Reixach. Reixach made trip queens by the end to send Greenwood to the rail with $427,328 USD.

Toma’s run came to an end when his AJ lost a preflop race against the 88 of Sam Grafton. Toma was awarded $551,381 USD for his strong showing, while Grafton climbed into second place on the leaderboard behind Reixach.

Grafton’s rise continued with the elimination of Kahle Burns. The Australian got all-in with KQ up against the K9 of Grafton. The British pro flopped a pair of nines to knock Burns out in fourth place ($709,912).

Danny Tang was the clear short stack heading into three-handed action. He got his last chips with A8 only to get called by Reixach, who held AQ. tang was in trouble, but managed to take the lead on the turn when the board showed 9928 to give him nines and eights. The A on the river saw Reixach regain the best hand, with both players making aces and nines, while Reixach held the queen for the superior kicker. Tang earned $940,803 USD for his third-place showing.

Heads-up play began with Reixach and Grafton relatively even, and both players had their turn holding the lead during the battle that lasted nearly three hours. Reixach held roughly a 6-to-1 lead by the time the final hand was dealt. Reixach limped in from the button with K8 and Grafton raised to 600,000 from the big blind holding Q6. Reixach called and the flop came down KJ3. Grafton bet 325,000 and Reixach called. The 5on the turn drew checks from both players and the 7 completed the board. Grafton moved all-in for 1,725,000 as a bluff, but Reixach quickly called with his top pair to secure the pot and the title. Grafton earned $1,447,385 as the runner-up, the largest payday of his career.
