Scott Hall Wins 2019 World Series of Poker Circuit Ameristar St. Charles Main Event

A total of 414 entries were made in the 2019 World Series of Poker Circuit Ameristar St. Charles $1,700 no-limit hold’em main event, easily surpassing the tournament’s $500,000 guarantee to create a final prize pool of $627,210. Four days after the first cards were dealt in this event, Scott Hall emerged victorious with the title and the first-place prize of $130,667. The 31-year-old poker pro from Arkansas was also awarded his first-ever WSOPC gold ring as the champion of this event. This was his 12th career live tournament title, and the score brought his lifetime earnings to $725,974.

“Feels about as good as anything can feel, really,” Hall told WSOP reporters after coming out on top.

In addition to the money and the hardware, Hall also earned 720 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. Thus was his fifth POY-qualified final table of the year. He now sits in 439th place in the 2019 POY race, which is sponsored by Global Poker.

The final day of this event began with only three players remaining, with play continuing past the setting of the final table late on day 2. World Poker Tour champion Ravi Raghavan was among the players to make the official final table, but he did not manage to survive to day 3. He took home $24,458 as the sixth-place finisher.

Bill Morrow began the final day with the chip lead, having overtaken Hall late on day 2 by knocking out Edward Dixon in fourth place ($43,198). Andros Ioakimides began the day as the shortest stack. Hall regained the lead in time to play the largest pot of the tournament. With blinds of 40,000-80,000 and a big blind ante of 80,000, Hall raised to 175,000 from the button with the QQ. Morrow three-bet to 500,000 from the big blind holding A7 and Hall made the call. The flop came down 1022 and Marrow shoved all-in for around 4 million. Hall thought it over before making the call with his pocket queens. Morrow had plenty of outs with an overcard and a flush draw, but the 8 on the turn and 3 on the river kept Hall in the lead to the end. With that, he won the massive pot to chip up to 10,500,00 while Morrow hit the rail in third place ($58,653).

Hall took a healthy lead into his heads-up battle with Ioakimides, who managed to earn an early double up with A-J against the A-5 of Hall. In the final hand, Ioakimides raised to 175,000 from the button with J5 and Hall called with J9. The flop came down 873 and Ioakimides bet 250,000. The 6 saw Ioakimides check-call a bet of 540,000 from Hall. The 10 on the river prompted Ioakimides to shove all-in as a bluff, only to have Hall make the call with his rivered straight. Ioakimides ultimately settled for $80,761 as the runner-up finisher.
