An American bookmaker was found dead in Costa Rica Monday, according to a report from ESPN Chalk.

William Sean Creighton, the founder of online sportsbook 5Dimes, was found dead in Quepos, a small town on the coast of the country. Creighton was originally from West Virginia but was a resident of Costa Rica for some time.

Headquarters for 5Dimes is located in San Pedro, a mountain town just outside San Jose.

The 43-year-old was abducted about a year ago when traffic officers pulled him over and four men arrived on the scene in a van and kidnapped Creighton.

Costa Rican authorities could not confirm the cause of death and have not announced how it discovered Creighton’s body. The body was found several hours from the alleged site of the kidnapping.

5Dimes has been in business for about two decades and served U.S.-facing bettors. In 2016, the company was under federal investigation for money laundering.

“We can confirm Costa Rican authorities identified the remains of a U.S citizens in Costa Rica,” a spokesman for the U.S. State Department told ESPN in a statement. “We offer our sincerest condolences to the family on their loss. We are closely monitoring local authorities’ investigation into the cause of death. We stand ready to provide all appropriate consular assistance.”
