One of the Mid-Atlantic’s premiere poker series is kicking off next month at MGM National Harbor, with the addition of their Potomac Winter Poker Open.
The series runs February 5-17 and features 14 events with more than $1 million in guaranteed prize pools. The series is highlighted by their $400 No-Limit Hold’em opening event that features six starting flights and the $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event with three starting flights. Both of these events feature a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.
The opening event kicks off on Wednesday, February 5, with Day 1A starting at 5 p.m. Day 1B will also start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 6. Friday and Saturday feature an 11 a.m. flight 1C and a 5 p.m. flight 1D to close out the Day 1’s. Day 2 will start on Sunday, February 9 at noon and will play down to a winner.
The Main Event is the other bookend of the schedule with Day 1A starting at 11 a.m. on Valentine’s Day. Day 1B and 1C start at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 15. Players will start with 50,000 in chips and enjoy levels of 45, 60 and 75 minutes as the tournament moves deeper into the structure. The Main Event will play down to a final table on Sunday, February 16 and declare a winner on the final day of the series.
Other noteworthy tournaments that are on the schedule include a $1,200 5-Card Pot-Limit Omaha event, a $400 single day No-Limit Hold’em with a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool, a $600 Heads-up event, a $600 8-game mix, and a senior’s event. The Potomac Winter Poker Open also kicks off the start of MGM Resorts East Coast Poker Tour. Participants can qualify for the ECPT Leaderboard from February 5 through August 24, 2020 with tour stops at MGM National Harbor, Borgata, and MGM Springfield.
